Hey, I’m Megan
But you can call me meg
I live in Cheshire with my husband, our son Harry and a little cockapoo called Audrey.
I grew up in South Africa, so my ideal holiday is taking the family on safari. We’ll happily drive around for hours trying to spot the Big Five, whilst hopefully getting one or two decent photos along the way. It’s a game of patience and you never quite know what’s going to happen next.
I think the same can be said for weddings. You can plan everything down to the last detail and then something completely unexpected happens. So, I try to make sure I’m prepared for any eventuality. Thankfully, there aren’t usually any charging elephants at a wedding but at least I’ll know what to do if we stumble upon one.
I made kids’ telly
Before I became a full-time wedding photographer, I was a director at the BBC, where I made kid’s telly for almost fifteen years. Making TV for children is pretty special. It’s fun and it’s silly and you can’t take yourself too seriously. We spent our days trying to find the humour in things and it’s something I’ve carried with me.
Working with children also taught me a lot about people. How to make someone feel comfortable, how to read a situation and when to step in or leave things alone. All of which comes in pretty handy at a wedding.
I’m a storyteller at heart and I’m naturally curious about people, so I’m always looking for the little things happening around me. These are the moments you might not notice on the day but will love seeing afterwards.
If posing really isn’t your thing, don’t worry. I’ll give you some direction when you need it, disappear when you don’t and politely herd the occasional rogue child, adult or puppet when necessary.
