Caro & Sven’s Lake Como Elopement at Grand Hotel Tremezzo
There is something wonderfully special about an elopement: just two people and a setting worthy of the promise being made. Caro & Sven chose to say their vows on the shores of Lake Como and I had the joy of planning their day from the ground up, choosing every venue myself to match the romance they were after. As a Lake Como elopement photographer who also plans the day itself, I get to see a couple’s whole story unfold in one place, from the first glass of Aperol to the last golden hour on the water.
Aperol Spritz at Grand Hotel Tremezzo
The day began at the legendary Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a Belle Epoque icon on the water, built in 1910 in the grand Liberty style and long a favourite of artists, aristocrats and film stars drawn to this stretch of the lake. We settled in at the hotel’s lakeside bar for Aperol spritz beneath the sherbet striped umbrellas before walking along to Parco Civico Teresio Olivelli for portraits among the fountains and cypress trees. We finished the afternoon the only way you should on Lake Como: aboard a classic wooden boat, chasing golden light across the water.

From the hotel’s lakeside bar, Caro and Sven wandered along to Parco Civico Teresio Olivelli, the public gardens just along the water: cypress lined paths, marble balustrades and a baroque fountain that has been catching the Como light for a century. It felt like stepping onto a film set. Caro and Sven traded their spritz glasses for quiet moments among the statuary, the mountains standing watch above them.
A Boat Ride Across Lake Como
And then, the boat. There is no finer way to see this stretch of the lake than aboard a classic wooden Riva, tracing the shoreline past Bellagio and the grand villas that have watched over Como for centuries. We had a drone tracking above to catch the full scale of it: the Grand Hotel Tremezzo shrinking behind them, the water turning to glass, Caro and Sven wrapped up in each other while the whole lake unfolded around them.
Planning Your Own Lake Como Elopement
Caro and Sven wanted an elopement that felt entirely their own and Lake Como, a place I chose for them having planned every last detail of their day, gave us exactly that: aperitivo glamour by the water, secret garden romance and a golden boat ride into the evening.
