Wagtail Engagement Party Venue: A London Rooftop Guide
Wagtail engagement party venue sits right at the top of a landmark art deco building in the City of London. It is one of the most striking spots I have photographed a celebration. The rooftop terraces look out over St Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard and Tower Bridge, which makes it a brilliant choice if you want your engagement party to feel like a proper occasion. Here is why Wagtail deserves a place on your shortlist.
A Rooftop With One of London’s Best Views
Wagtail sits in the eaves of one of the City’s grandest art deco buildings, close to Monument station. From up here you get 360-degree views across London, taking in landmarks from St Paul’s Cathedral to Tower Bridge. It is the kind of setting that does a lot of the work for you before your guests have even had a drink.
Space for Every Kind of Celebration
The venue has six different spaces to choose from, so it works whether you are planning something intimate or a proper blowout. The Nest holds up to twelve guests for a cosy gathering, while the West and East Terraces suit drinks receptions for up to sixty. For something bigger, exclusive hire of the whole venue takes up to 220 guests across the 9th and 10th floors. Wherever you land, there is a 1:30am licence, so the party does not have to stop early.
A Backdrop Made for Photographs
As a photographer, this is one of the best backdrops I get to work with. The railings and rooftop edges give you clean lines against the skyline. The light in the late afternoon is beautiful, and it turns golden just as the celebrations start to properly kick off. Whether you want playful shots or something a little more romantic, Wagtail’s terraces give you plenty of options in every direction.
Food and Drink Worth Celebrating
Wagtail’s food and drink menus are built for a party. Canapes and sliders keep guests happy without pulling them away from the conversation. The bar is well stocked for champagne toasts and proper cocktails alike.
An Atmosphere That Runs Into the Night
Once the sun goes down, Wagtail changes completely. Fairy lights and lanterns take over from the daylight views, resident DJs keep the evening moving and the indoor bar gives you a warmer, moodier space if the terrace gets cool. It is a properly good spot for a party that runs late.
Small Details That Make a Party Feel Special
It is often the small touches that make an engagement party feel personal. Flowers on the tables, thoughtful gifts for the happy couple and good light for photographs all add up to a celebration that feels properly special.
Why I Think Wagtail Is Perfect for an Engagement Party
Between the views, the atmosphere and the sheer scale of the place, Wagtail is one of my favourite spots in London to photograph a celebration. Take a look through my portfolio for more of my work.
