Broadoaks Country House wedding venue sits between Windermere and Ambleside, right in the heart of the Lake District. This Victorian country house was built in 1836 and has been welcoming guests ever since. It was once voted the most romantic hotel in Britain by the AA. A Victorian House With Real Character
Broadoaks was built in 1836 as a gentleman’s summer residence. The house still carries that sense of occasion today. Inside, Edwardian architecture sits alongside a music room designed by William Morris, one of the most celebrated names in English design. Crackling fires and characterful interiors give the house a warmth that modern venues often struggle to match.

The house sits within around seven acres of grounds, framed by the River Troutbeck as it tumbles down towards Lake Windermere. Mature woodland and manicured lawns give you plenty of space for photographs, whatever the season. It is a proper Lake District setting. It photographs beautifully in every kind of light.
Ceremonies Both Inside and Out
As a Broadoaks Country House wedding venue, it is licensed for ceremonies both inside and outside, so you can choose whatever suits you best. The gazebo in the grounds is a lovely spot for an outdoor ceremony, especially once the autumn colours come through. Wherever you say your vows, the setting does most of the work for you.

Once the ceremony is done, there is plenty of space to relax with a drink before the reception gets going. Cold beers, proper cocktails and a well-stocked bar all help set the tone for the rest of the day.

Broadoaks’ dining spaces are just as characterful as the rest of the house. The conservatory is a beautiful spot for a wedding breakfast, full of natural light and a lovely contrast to the more traditional rooms elsewhere in the house. Tables dressed in white linen, black bow ties and simple flower arrangements keep the styling timeless.

As a Broadoaks Country House wedding venue, it has accommodation for up to 100 guests during the day and 150 in the evening, plus 19 guest bedrooms and a grand honeymoon retreat, so Broadoaks gives you everything in one place. You and your guests can move between ceremony, reception and evening celebrations without ever having to leave.
